Outstanding...Barnesville receives high honors for Water

Tapwater Georgia Association of Water Professionals recognizes the City of Barnesville Water Plant, Water Treatment Plant Lead Operator and Water and Sewer Superintendent.


Water Awards

The City of Barnesville Water Treatment Plant was recognized for outstanding operations and compliance for the year of 2013 at the Georgia Association of Water Professionals (GAWP) Spring Conference in Columbus, GA on April 15th. The Water Treatment Plant competed against drinking water facilities throughout the state for the title of “Plant of the Year” for 2013. The Barnesville Water Treatment Plant ranked 3rd amongst the facilities in the competition and scored 90.1 of a possible 100. While Barnesville did not secure the title of “Plant of the Year” it was recognized for its outstanding operations and high scoring in the competition. The WTP was also recognized for 7 straight years of perfect permit compliance under the Safe Drinking Water Act.

WTP lead operator, Christy Allison, was recognized as the Top Water Operator of the Year. Water and Sewer Superintendent, Chris Callahan, was recognized as the Top Distribution System Operator of the Year. The Top Operator of the Year awards are presented to the Top Operator each year for their respective fields of operations. This is a high honor in the water industry and is well deserved by Barnesville’s own.
