Rayonier-Barnesville Plant was established in 1996 and is part of Rayonier, Incorporated which serves an international market as a leading forest products company producing and marketing specialty pulp, timber and wood products with a tradition of quality and innovation. The multi-million dollar Rayonier-Barnesville facility supplies high qualitywood chips for a variety of uses and purchases timber locally and regionally to maintaina continuous flow of wood chips to their market.
The history of Rayonier is rooted in Shelton, Washington with the founding of the Rainier Pulp and Paper Company in 1926. In 1937 three pulp and paper companies in Washington merged to form Rayonier. In 1993 Rayonier expaned its operations into the Southeastwith a pulp mill in Fernandina Beach, Florida. The company's forest acreage grew as well, with the rapid acquisition of more than 800,000 acres of forestland in Georgia and Florida beginning in 1937. since then, Rayonier, has planted more than 1/2 billion trees in the Southeast. |
